Fan Mail That Made My Day!

For most authors, feedback comes in the form of reviews or fan mail. But as a children’s author, my readers are a bit too young for that! That’s why it’s incredibly special when teachers, parents, librarians, and grandparents share how my books have touched the lives of their children. Seeing school projects inspired by my characters and stories is also a huge treat.

I received an email that absolutely made my day. A teacher in Canada, Ms. Bright, read One Blue Gnu to her class and asked her students to draw their favorite scene and write about it. The drawings and captions she sent are beyond cute! A huge thank you to Ms. Bright and her talented students for sharing their wonderful work with me (it seems the pizza man is a big hit)!

Dear Mrs. Smith,

We love your book! We love it so much! We made some letters for you about the parts of the book that we liked the best. Oliver says, “you have never read a better book than that, Ms. Bright!”

We hope you like our letters and our pictures.

Love

Division 7 (Kindergarten and Grade One): Halle, Lydia, Oliver, Damon, Ariel, Nevaeh, Kailey, Aurora, Mila, Kyra, Haelyn, Ms. Bright.
